Ablati 2- 8-bit
Distribution type: Commercial
Font distributor: Fonts.com
Ablati is the font developed during the writing of our new book, Practical Font Design. The basic inspiration came from Romic, by Colin at Letraset, and Goudy Oldstyle. I blended them in my mind and came up with a font that I really like and use all the time. Instead of making a normal release of TT and PS fonts, I decided to make an 8-bit Ablati Oldstyle with the oldstyle figures and lowercase letters, plus the normal 8-bit characters. plus, I am offering Ablati Small Caps with proportional lining figures, small cap figures, small caps and several of the discretionary ligatures and swashes. Both of these 8-bit fonts with be part of the package that is Ablati 8-bit at the normal retail price. You can also buy the individual 8-bit fonts for less. Ablati Italic is the companion of the font but a completely different base design for a true italic. Being tired of the italics I've been doing, I took my inspiration from the headlines from several of the articles in the 1929 Woman's World magazine. it is a free, freehand translation of whati saw there. I think it has a really nice look to go with Ablati. In most ways, these are normal fonts for me in that they has caps, lowercase, small caps with the appropriate figures for each case. This font has all the OpenType features in the new set developed for the book. There are several ligatures for your fun and enjoyment: bb gg ff fi fl ffi ffl ffy fj ft ry tt ty Wh Th ME NE UR and more. Several alternative forms, a dozen ornaments, and more. Like all of my fonts, there are: caps, lowercase, small caps, proportional lining figures, proportional oldstyle figures, & small cap figures, plus numerators, denominators, superiors, inferiors, and a complete set of ordinals 1st through infinity. Enjoy! The Oldstyle and Small Cap fonts are an attempt to have most of the OpenType characters available to people still using Type 1 and TrueType fonts (though I have quit even making a Mac version of the Type 1 format).
